Wedding Weekend!!!
I'm so excited! My little brother is getting married this weekend!!
via
All the wedding preparations got me thinking about our wedding. When The Man and I got married we were very young, by today's standards at least, I had just turned 19 and he had just turned 20. We had a very, VERY small budget. The dress, flowers, invitations, decorations, favors, etc. all came in UNDER $800! (I wish I had some photos to share on here but they are all packed.)
Martha Stewart Weddings
We ordered the flowers through a grocery store and made the bouquets ourselves. I got my dress on sale for about $400 at a local shop. We had an evening wedding in November so it was dark outside when the ceremony started. We decorated with white tulle, white Christmas lights and tons of dollar store white candles. It was cheap but very beautiful! We made the invitations ourselves, my poor Mother put up with my complaining the whole time, they took forever! We had a dessert reception following the ceremony with all of the desserts provided by the women at our church. Our honeymoon was spent here in MT at a nearby hot springs.
Although I would probably change everything about it now (personal style can change a lot in 7 years!) it was a small, beautiful wedding, spent with the people we love the most.
Martha Stewart Weddings
When thinking about our wedding I sometimes wish we had the BIG affair like in the movies. With caterers, a band, professional pictures, etc. However, it's just a WEDDING, it's one day. A drop in the bucket of 'till death do us part'. Now, I have nothing against big or expensive weddings, for those of you who had or will have them more power to you! Celebrating a marriage is such a joy, no matter how it's done!
But marriage is a whole other story! It's not easy, in fact it's very hard. But God's grace is sufficient!! I thank Him everyday for bringing me my husband!!
So here's to my little brother and future sister-in-law (as I raise my non-existent glass : ) , may the Lord bless you and keep you, may He make his face shine on you and be gracious to you, may the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace (a blessing from Numbers 6:22-26). Congratulations, I love you both!!

Lovely Kitchen
I'm loving this kitchen! It's styled to perfection. That light fixture is awesome!!! Although if it were me I'd probably put a sisal or jute rug under the table.
I'd love to have a big island with seating AND a breakfast nook like this!
Anyone know the source???

J's Mood Board
J's Room by Mauisugar55 on Polyvore.com
Once again, similar to the items I have. Same wall color as Baby P's room, not this exact one but it's pretty close.
Same color for headboards but square with nickel nail head trim. Thinking about pom pom fringe on the curtains, maybe black? I also have a ton of jute webbing I might trim them with.
J LOVES Thomas the Train, however I am one of "those" Mom's who doesn't decorate my kid's rooms with "character" things. I know, I'm horrible! ; ) So I found him a vintage Montana railroad map on Ebay..similar colors to the one above.
Poor J gets the room with the pink carpet!! I can't wait to check underneath it to see if there is hardwoods! If there is and they are in good shape we will probably rip up the carpets first thing. Otherwise......since we won't be able to re-carpet anytime soon so he will get the 8x10 neutral rug we have in our living room right now. It won't cover all the pink, but it will do the job until we change out the carpets.
We have an armoire in our foyer that is pretty similar to the one above...you can check out the House Tour tab to see it.
I also plan to use chalkboard paint somewhere in his room. I wanted to paint his closet doors in it but he has bi-fold shutter doors, I might try to switch them out for something else and then paint them. If not maybe the top of his table or his dresser.
I'm so excited to move and get started!! Closing day is June 10th, it's coming up fast!!! : )

Mark 8:34-35 "And he called unto him the multitude with his disciples, and said unto them, If any man would come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever would save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's shall save it."

Nursery Mood Board
Baby P's Nursery by Mauisugar55 on Polyvore.com
Well, here it is!! The mood board for Baby P's new nursery! I'm so excited to move and start decorating!!!
These are not the exact pieces I will be using but they are very similar. The rocking chair is pretty close to the vintage one I have, however it will be re-upholstered in a nubby gray chenille.
I haven't decided yet if I will do a two tone dresser or just paint it all white. Thoughts? Suggestions??
I have a vintage brass moroccan lantern to hang in his room, the shadows it casts will be amazing!
The room will also feature this Heather Ross fabric made into a crib sheet.
I made a white butterfly mobile similar to the one shown and the canvas that J and I painted (you can see it hanging above his crib here.) will hang above the dresser. I just included the oil painting to give you an idea of how it would look.
A friend of mine recently gave me a set of vintage looking alphabet cards. I was thinking that I could use twine and clothespins to display them like this:

I have a vintage monkey lamp and vintage nesting tables that will go in the room as well.
I will be using J's brown velvet curtains with the black and white stripe at the bottom, as he is getting new ones for his room. And I of course will be using lots of seagrass storage baskets!
So what do you think?????????
