Recovery and Isaac's Nursery Plans
Well, we are home (we got home about 12:30pm yesterday after his surgery at 9:30am) and Jude is doing great! If you prayed for us yesterday morning thank you so much, I really appreciate it!! I was very worried about how he was going to react to being taken back to the OR by himself but he did wonderful! It was a little rough after he woke up until the meds kicked in but let me just say that he is a TROOPER! They didn't use any local anesthesia for the procedure, just the gas to knock him out and then regular old tylenol. He was pretty sore yesterday but did really well with just the tylenol. Since it was such a minor procedure it should heal very quickly in the next 2-3 days. This morning he woke up his happy, cheery self.
God is good!!!!
So beyond recovery for Jude there is lots going on around our house, including cleaning up the nursery and getting it ready for new paint.
Baby boy # 3, Isaac Asher is due at the end of June, that sounds so far off but it's not! I have about three and a half monthsbefore I won't be able to see my feet anymore to get prepared for his arrival.
Here are the updated plans for his nursery.
I will be using the same curtains, slipcovered chair, nesting tables, neutral area rug and dresser (have to paint it) that are already in the room, along with the same layout.
The crib that I decided on, thanks for your help by the way, is this one:
I may get this under the crib storage drawer.......
......with some paint and new hardware it would look like this gorgeous, Dorothy Draper inspired (and very expensive) crib.
I have fabric to make a spotted crib sheet like the one above. I also have the same round vinyl ottoman as on the moddboard, but mine is emerald green.
Above the crib I'm planning on hanging this cheeky print from Urban Outfitters.
Along the other wall above the dresser I'm thinking about hanging three long mirrors horizontally...like this.
I pre-ordered this rug from Urban Outfitters and I'm so excited to see it in person, layered over the other rug. It ships on March 8th, I can't wait!
I found the tripod lamp base at Target on sale so I snatched it up. I love how masculine it is...kind of makes me want to steal it for somewhere else in the house! :)
I'll post pictures when I get some of these projects done.....crazy to think that Isaac will be here in four months! I can't wait to meet him!!

Lately.........
I've been attached to my sewing machine.
I've made about 2,849 pillows........
a crib sheet (out of this Alexander Henry fabric)..........
and a slipcover for our ottoman.
(I'm waiting for some sunshine to take some decent photos of the rest of the living room.)
I still need to make two duvet covers for Jude and Phin's beds and then the sewing machine can get put away.
This late in the game (31 weeks) pretty much anything and everything is knock down, drag out exhausting for me. However, it's a mad dash to get everything done before I go into labor and with my history that could be sooner rather than later. I can't believe how quickly this pregnancy has gone by and that we'll be holding sweet baby boy # 3 in as little as six weeks!! Speaking of that sweet baby, his nursery is almost finished. I'm just waiting on one last piece of art.

Manic Monday
I'm so freaking tired.......I've been cleaning, folding laundry, painting, stripping wallpaper, sanding, priming, organizing baby clothes, contracting of course and dealing with my sons MAJOR bug phobia. Poor kid is terrified to go outside and we are kind of at a loss as to how to handle it. On top of that my computer has started acting up.....these pregnancy hormones, and hell who am I kidding my general lack of patience, makes me want to take it out into a field and re-enact "that" scene from Office Space.
While I try to resist that urge here are some lovelies from Pinterest......sorry people, it's all I got in me today!

Boys room updates
We've been working a lot on Jude and Phin's room over the last month. Phin used to be blocked into his bed (we had it turned backwards with the headboard at the opposite end and then two bed rails on the sides.) but he managed to figure out how to squeeze his way out. There was no point in having his bed face the wrong way, since he could climb out anyway, so we turned it around and took one of the side rails off.
The horse picture was taken by a friend of mine from high school, it's one of my favorite pieces!
SOOOOO much better!!!!!!!!!!!!

One down, One to go
Last night I sucked it up and finished Jude's headboard. My back hurt so bad by the time I was done (since I did it all on the floor), but it was worth the pain because I LOVE how it turned out!!
Hooray for progress! I'm really surprised how much I've gotten done in his room in 6 months, especially when I see the before picture.
I'm going to wait a few days to start on the other headboard, you know give my back some time to straighten out again.

Jude and Phin's Room
Hope you all had a great Christmas, we really enjoyed our time with our families, especially my brother and his wife who are here from WA!
When we moved into our house in June I didn't have plans to put both boys in the same room for awhile. Fast forward to October, we found out that baby # 3 was on the way. Needless to say, Phin will be moving into Jude's room sooner than I planned (he's only 18 months old right now), probably in February or March.
Jude has always had two twin beds in his room but they need a lot of work! I'm going to make/upholster two headboards and make the duvet covers for both beds.
I've been trying to decide what kind of a pattern I want to use on the nail head trim. The headboards will be plain square shaped, here are a few options for the nail head trim.
I'd love to try something like this with some grosgrain ribbon.
Abstract criss cross?
I'm leaning more toward the first option and the grosgrain ribbon one. Which one is your favorite?

-Because of the small space I wasn't able to use a dresser in between the beds, I have a little TV table there right now that works out great. Eventually I'd like to find a small dresser that would fit but none of our existing ones will. Because of space issues I also wasn't able to include his table and chairs.
-Instead of a lantern type fixture I have a Moroccan one to install! So cool!!!
-I also changed the paint color from gray to a very pale blue and added some color with a red lamp instead of black.
-I'd still like to use some chalkboard paint somewhere in his room, originally I wanted to paint his closet doors with it but we have those shutter type doors not flat panel ones.
-I ended up using short length curtains because of the window/bed placement.....here's how they turned out (this was before I painted).

Update on Jude's room
A couple weeks ago I finished painting Jude's room, although I haven't done much more since then I figured I'd show you my progress anyway. Here is his room the first time we looked at the house.
Here it is now, sorry about the dark photo, you can't really tell but the walls are the palest blue, much easier seen in the daytime. I'm usually not a big fan of short curtains but it had to be done here because of where the beds are. I really like the way they turned out!
I still have headboards and duvet covers to make. The headboards will be upholstered in a pea green velvet with brass nailhead trim. I also have an amazing moroccan pendant similar to this one, that needs to be installed.
And here are some shots of my boys, just for fun............

Teen Rooms
I'm really excited about an upcoming project!!! I'll be working with my Aunt to redecorate her daughter's bedroom for her 13th birthday next year. We've already started brainstorming and she's bought this beautiful Missoni for Target duvet set:
I'm SO excited to see how this room comes together!!
