Plans for our master bedroom

Although it will be a while before we get around to sprucing up our bedroom I wanted to post what my plans are. You know just in case someone else does something similar before I get around to it. Then I can look back at this post and say, "See it WAS an original idea".    :)

Here is what our bedroom looks like right now, yes the closet doors need painting.

Stanley's side of the bed...........that dresser may get a makeover at some point. Faux painted inlaid bone perhaps??

Here is the reason it will take so long to get to our room......that peeling wallpaper. Which is actually two layers not just one.  Stripping wallpaper and pregnancy/newborns don't mix! Hopefully we'll get to it in the next year though.

I still need to add the nickel nailhead trim to the headboard and make the art for either side of the bed. The bedding will stay the same, I have a black and white herringbone blanket for the end of the bed and these fabrics will be added into the mix.

Top: David Hicks Pomegranate fabric for curtain panels

Bottom left: Ikat fabric for throw pillow for bed

Bottom right: Chinoiserie fabric (this fabric is much more chartruese in person!) for extra long lumbar pillow for bed, like the pillow below

This paint color for the walls:

Here is the other side of the room.

Black candles for the Tole sconces. The dresser and mirror will be getting a couple coats of emerald green paint, similar to this:

Here is a (very wrinkled) shot of our bedskirt. I'm thinking I may trim out the bottom edge with some black grosgrain ribbon eventually.

I still haven't decided on lighting yet.

This fixture is going in the nursery, but it's twin (minus the glass panels, they were broken) may get a coat of spray paint for our room.

So there it is........suggestions?

 Comments??

Master bedroom light fixture

Bought a light fixture, similar to the one below, for our bedroom last weekend.

Ours is a little bit bigger and the glass pieces are square at the top (not curved) and pointed like an arrowhead at the bottom. Trust me, it's pretty sweet! Plus this one is selling for $225 on Etsy right now and I got mine for just $18!!

Now to just get my Dad over to hang it..............and the other 6 light fixtures I need hung.

Love you Dad!!   : )

Our ultrasound went great on Tuesday, I'm working on the post now.......what's your guess?

Boy or girl?????????

My Dad is THE best!!

He spent this morning, his day off, installing some light fixtures for us. It is no easy task. Just imagine that everything that could go wrong, usually does. The people we bought this house from were CRAZY not suited for DIY anything, especially installing light fixtures. So, like I said my Dad is the best!Especially considering that I have new fixtures for almost every room in the house and will be putting him to work again in the near future. Love you Dad!!

First up we have this pendant in the kitchen, which is a little reminiscent of the Hicks pendant.

I still want to get an Edison bulb for it, much more cool looking that a standard white one.

He also put this number up in our master bedroom.....an awesome garage sale find for $17!!!

I love the arrow shape of the acrylic pieces!

Do you spy the new art in our room too??

Over the weekend I finished up the two paintings for our room and framed them. Here are some close ups.

Can't wait to get the rest of this room done and it may be sooner rather than later. We're toying with the idea of stripping that awful wall of wallpaper while Stanley is off this weekend. We'll see if I can talk him into it!   ; )

Manic Monday

I'm so freaking tired.......I've been cleaning, folding laundry, painting, stripping wallpaper, sanding, priming, organizing baby clothes, contracting of course and dealing with my sons MAJOR bug phobia.  Poor kid is terrified to go outside and we are kind of at a loss as to how to handle it.  On top of that my computer has started acting up.....these pregnancy hormones, and hell who am I kidding my general lack of patience, makes me want to take it out into a field and re-enact "that" scene from Office Space.

While I try to resist that urge here are some lovelies from Pinterest......sorry people, it's all I got in me today!

Help!

For the last few weeks I've been going back and forth on my paint choice for our bedroom.

Just to remind you this is what we have going on in our very small bedroom.

The abstracts on either side of the bed will be changed out for some vintage chinoiserie prints and the headboard still needs nailhead trim.

Mr. Brown nightstand has since been painted this color (Rustoleum Gloss smoke gray)

I also swapped out the hardware for these that I had left over

Opposite the bed we have this situation............told you this room was small!

The above mirror has been swapped out for this painting.............

These fabrics are also in the mix.....David Hicks large scale print will be curtains, ochre floral (much prettier in person!) is a long bolster and gray ikat is a small pillow.

Originally I was planning on a pale pink for the walls..........like these.

But lately I've been wondering should I go dark(er) instead?

The last two photos are close to where I'd be going if I chose something darker...an inky green charcoal gray.

If I did something darker on the walls I'd paint the trim (and the closet doors) the same color like the bedroom (by AB Chao) above. The dresser would be painted either the same as the nightstand (Rustoleum smoke gray) or high gloss white or black.

If I decide to go with the light pink the dresser will definitely be painted high gloss black.

So what do you think, light or dark or neither or both or any other combo of the two????
