Bar Cart/Nightstand

 Long, long ago in a galaxy far, far away (Sorry, no trekkies in this house) I wrote this post about an old bar cart I had picked up for $2.50 at a thrift store.

She's recently had a makeover and now resides next to my bed.(Please disregard the unmade bed and hideous peeling wallpaper!)

Plan B

Remember this post when I said that my parents were getting me these rugs???

Change of plans! My parents didn't realize that the Seattle Ikea is a LONG drive from my brother's (and his wife's) place. So they ended up not going. Boo Hoo!

(Those of you who have Ikea's nearby....count your blessings!!!)

However, it just so happened that my friend's husband had to go to Colorado for work and would be making an Ikea run! Yay!!! Since he is having to drive a little economy car back I couldn't have him pick up any bigger items. And while I loved those rugs, I decided against them.

Remember this sitting area in our living room??

I've been looking for a lamp to put on the table in between those chairs since the glass one got transplanted to the office. I wanted something without a shade, a pharmacy/work type lamp that was very modern. I looked at a brass pharmacy lamp at Target but wasn't sold on the finish. Then, I found this beauty online at Ikea (and cannot find it now....Ikea's weird like that!):

Perfect! One for me please!!

Houston, we have a problem

I've been experiencing some technical difficulties this week. My archaic computer wouldn't let me download any pictures. It took me a few days to figure it out but it's working now.

So....I can FINALLY share my office reveal with you!!!

Here is what the room looked like when we first saw it:

What I did:
I painted the walls and faux paneling and "built" a 12 foot desk from two hollow core closet doors and storage towers.

What I need to finish:
Paint the ceiling- I have a fun idea I'm dying to test out, paint the dresser, spray paint the chandelier and replace the carpet (eventually).

So, here is what it looks like now:

This is the dresser that is still waiting for some paint....hopefully this week.

I may be switching some of the furniture around since I'd like to have some more storage in here. I'll let you what I decide on!

Fall Fun!

Sorry once again for being MIA! "The Man" took some vacation time last week so I spent every second that I could with him and the boys. He was able to take off six whole days........in a row!!

 (As you can probably tell from my reaction, he isn't able to take much time off. I think he got to take two days off when we moved this summer and the same when Phin was born last summer.)

We didn't have anything big planned, just spending quality time with our boys and getting some stuff done around the house. On Sunday afternoon we ended up heading out to Vaughn, MT (about 20 minutes from Great Falls) to the Sterling Corn Maze. We had SO much fun!! They have two corn mazes (long and short), "cow train" rides, a big tube slide, a hay bale maze for the kids and a ton more.

We ran into "The Man's" brother and sister and their families, so we had to get a picture of all the cousins together. : ) We haven't seen them for a while so it was such a blessing for the kids to get to play together!

Picking out pumpkins to take home was definitely their favorite part! If Phin had his way he'd carry his pumpkin around with him all day! I'm dreading the day I'll have to throw it out!!

                 Back to "regular" posts tomorrow....I have a bunch of new projects to show you!

Quiet Time

 Trust and Obey

When we walk with the Lord
In the light of His word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will,
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

Trust and obey, for there's no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

Not a burden we bear,
Not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss,
Not a frown or a cross,
But is blest if we trust and obey.

But we never can prove
The delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows,
For the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.

Then in fellowship sweet
We will sit at His feet,
Or we'll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do,
Where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.

Trust and obey, for there's no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

How true this classic hymn is!

Jesus help me to obey without asking questions or doubting for you are trustworthy and sovereign!

Did ya miss me?

Wow, what a crazy 10 days it has been!

The stomach flu made the rounds through our house, just like I hoped it wouldn't. Poor, sweet Phin (16 months) was still sick this last weekend, hopefully he is on the mend now!
Dishes, laundry and general cleaning piled up while we were all sick and I'm just now getting to the bottom of it all. Not to mention my anti-virus software seemed to take a vacation just as I did. If you received a spammy E-mail from me, disregard and delete it please!!!

So while I try to get my home and computer back in working order, I'll leave you with some pretty pictures.
